Travel
Who doesn’t like to travel? Of course we all go on vacation from time to time, but how about travel that pushes us out of our comfort zones?
When I finished my Ph.D. work I discovered that my business ran just as well without me, which meant that I had a few choices to make. I decided to start traveling. My first project was to study Spanish and I began traveling to many of the Spanish speaking countries in the world. Out of that experience came my book Spanish Lessons: A Midlife Adventure in Search of Meaning.
I learned over the course of several years that while everyone dreams of retiring with a cocktail in their hands sitting at the seashore, I wanted to do something more interesting. More than anything, my traveling and the time on my hands led me on a search to find the meaning of my life. It was, and still is, a rewarding quest.
At the end of my travels throughout Central and South America, and finishing up the book, I embarked on another journey, pushing myself a little further. This has led me to Southeast Asia. After visiting the temples and beaches of Thailand and the temples and killing fields of Cambodia I discovered Vietnam. You can follow my journey on my Travel Blog.
Who knows what’s next? Probably the Middle East, India, Africa...
